On behalf of the Vaughan College, I welcome you and thank you for your interest in our school’s International Programme.
Vaughan College is a private school primarily attended by local Canadian students from influential. In recent years, we have begun to accept international students into our programme. The faculty at Vaughan College is fully committed to supporting your child’s emotional, social and academic needs. To ensure their success, we have implemented a number of programmes to assist them with their transition to Fieldstone and Canada.
Meetings with the International Student Coordinator
Our vice Principal is available to meet with the students about any academic matters. After reviewing the results of your child’s English assessment, she will develop a personalized programme to cater to their individual abilities.
Student Success Meetings
All subject teachers meet with the Head of School to discuss strategies to ensure that the student’s academic, social and emotional needs are being met.
After-School Tutorial Programme
Students are encouraged to take advantage of the After-School Tutorial Programme which is offered twice a week by each subject teacher. Students have an opportunity to review the lessons taught and ask questions about their homework, test, and projects.
Mentor Programme
Students are paired with a staff mentor whom they meet with once a month to discuss any emotional and social concerns. During this time, the mentor will also discuss current and upcoming school events.
Monthly Reports
At the end of each month, parents will have access to the monthly reports which are available on-line. The monthly reports outline your child’s progress, and highlight any matters that require your immediate attention.
Early University Guidance
Beginning in Grade Eleven, students meet regularly with our Head of Guidance to discuss post-secondary options, and ensure they have the proper pre-requisites for the programmes they are interested in. In Grade Twelve, he will guide each family through the application process to ensure the application and required documents are submitted before the university deadlines.
As a ministry-inspected school, Vaughan College delivers Ontario secondary school courses in a manner that exceeds curriculum expectations and assessment / evaluation techniques used throughout the province. Our graduates have gained acceptance at universities of their choice.
International students who attend Vaughan College find their experience truly enriching. They pursue their future aspirations with confidence because of the strong academic programme, and the social and leadership opportunities provided at our school. Whether students share notes in class, work together on a project, eat lunch together, participate on an athletic team, or attend the trips, each experience is instrumental in forging life-long memories and friendships with their classmates and the faculty.
If you are interested in having your child enrol in our programme, we encourage applications to be submitted one academic year prior because space is limited in each class. Admissions to Vaughan College are based on the last two year’s report cards, the Student Information Questionnaire, the Confidential School Report or a recommendation letter from a teacher or principal, and a telephone interview.
